Celebration of the Jubilee for Priests in Rome

Spiritual Retreat given by Pope Francis

Priests and seminarians from all around the world are invited to make a pilgrimage to Rome in order to participate in a major gathering on the occasion of the Extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy. This Jubilee for Priests is a celebration for priests and seminarians which will be held in the Eternal City from Wednesday, June 1 to Friday, June 3, 2016.

During this international gathering, one day will be dedicated to a spiritual retreat, during which time Pope Francis will offer three meditations on the theme of “the priest as a minister of mercy”. Already in his first Angelus address, the Holy Father reminded all that God never tires of forgiving us. Such words are a clear call to priests never to tire in faithfully dispensing God’s mercy, both sacramentally and in their daily lives.

The program of events for the Jubilee for Priests, which will conclude with a concelebrated Holy Mass presided by the Holy Father on the 160th Anniversary of the institution of the Feast of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus in St. Peter’s Square, will provide opportunities for priests and seminarians to reflect and mediate together on the Word of God, to adore the Most Blessed Sacrament, to receive the Sacrament of Penance and Reconciliation, and to make a pilgrimage through the Holy Door of St. Peter’s Basilica.

For the moment, we are organizing individual language tracks in Italian, English, and Spanish. We would kindly ask, if possible, that all who register offer a 10 euro contribution to help offset the costs of the program. Registration will close on March 31, 2016. We look forward to your participation in this great Jubilee event!
