The Marian Jubilee from 7-9 October: Thousands of faithful present in Rome along with associations and  movements for a great “network” of love around the Virgin Mary.

Among the activities: Night of Eucharistic Adoration and Reconciliation, a Procession with more than 100 Marian Delegations from around the world, and a Prayer Vigil with the Holy Father

From today until the 9th of October, thousands of pilgrims from around the world will be in Rome for the Marian Jubilee, a much-anticipated event because of the great devotion of Christians for the Mother of God.  The Jubilee Event will begin today, the liturgical Memorial of Our Lady of the Rosary, with Holy Mass at 18:00 in the Basilica of Saint Mary Major.  At 19:00 the Rosary will be prayed in Saint Peter’s Piazza; the Pontifical Delegation for the Shrine of the Blessed Virgin of the Holy Rosary of Pompeii will lead the Rosary.  The delegation will be bringing the image of Our Lady venerated in their shrine, very dear to the Italian people, to Rome.  After the Rosary the customary supplication to Our Lady of Pompeii will be prayed.

Notable among the prayerful activities for this Jubilee event is the Night of Reconciliation and Eucharistic Adoration that will take place this evening from 20:00 to 24:00 in the Jubilee Churches San Salvatore in Lauro and Santa Maria in Vallicella (Chiesa Nuova). During these nighttime hours, pilgrims may frequent the Sacrament of Reconciliation and participate in Eucharistic Adoration, something they may also do tomorrow morning between 7 and 12 in the Church of Santo Spirito in Sassia.

Tomorrow will focus on the pilgrimage to the Holy Door, and in the afternoon, beginning at 14:00, entrance into saint Peter’s Square accompanied by prayers and Marian songs.  Later, at 14:30, a striking procession with Marian delegations from approximately 45 national communities and more than 50 shrines from around the world representing at least 40 countries.  Italy will be represented by about 20 shrines.  From Germany to France to Belgium to Spain and Hungary, to Argentina, Brazil, Costa Rica, the Philippines, Venezuela, to India and Vietnam, there will be a “network” of love surrounding the Virgin Mary which will wind its way on Via della Conciliazione with the many images with which the Mother of God is venerated in the various parts of the world. The procession will lead directly into the Prayer Vigil with Pope Francis, which will begin at 7:30.

The Marian Jubilee will conclude Sunday morning with the Mass celebrated by the Holy Father in Saint Peter’s Square at 10:30.
