Puerta de la Misericordia

Holy Cross Cathedral Lagos is the Seat of the Archbishop of Lagos. It is located on Catholic Mission Street, Lagos in the heart of Lagos Island.

It is an imposing Gothic superstructure with surrealistic forms and ecclesial crafts. It sits about 1000 people with three masses on weekdays and five masses on Sundays. Its interior is beautiful with frescoes and mosaics decorating the walls. It has a high vaulted concrete ceiling with optimum day-lighting from high arches stain glass and windows. It has side altars dedicated to various saints and societies have their devotions there.
The external marked by the statutory setbacks is landscaped with concrete walkways and spotted horticulture. It serves as spill over areas for big ceremonies such as the Chrism Mass. At the right of the main entrance is a high stand alone bell tower rung during the Angelus and the Easter Vigil.
The cathedral is a monument in Lagos State and indeed in Nigeria.
