Sacred Heart Cathedral (formerly known as St. Louis Church) was first opened in 1887 and was destroyed by fire in 1919, The present church, which was opened on December 20, 1925 after 5 years of construction, is a Romanesque style church located in downtown Kamloops. Dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, our primary patroness is the Immaculate Heart of Mary and our secondary patron is St. Jean Marie Vianney. The Cathedral is noted for it’s stained glass windows and ornate high altar. In later years, a western extension was added to the church to accommodate further growth.
